In addition to fantastic networking, libations and light snacks this kick-off event will feature a panel comprised of LGBT leaders representing the various stages of start-up life. From boot strapped early stage start-ups, through venture funded companies to life post-acquisition. Hear and share stories, experiences, challenges and triumphs!




Daniel Heller

Founder, The Welcoming Committee

Daniel Heller is the founder of The Welcoming Committee, an events and travel company that helps LGBT people experience the entire world, not just gay bars, in a completely comfortable way. Daniel has a background in strategy consulting, product management, and LGBT rights and holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Sarah Hodkinson

Director of Marketing, PayPal

Sarah is an angel investor and formerly Head of Marketing at WHERE, a Boston-based start-up acquired by PayPal. Sarah is also a mentor to start-ups with the Start Tank, PayPal Boston’s incubator. She has over 16 years of senior marketing and sales management experience, primarily within the media industry.


Chris Nolan
Founder & CEO, KleerMail

Chris Nolan is the founder & CEO of KleerMail, an enterprise software company serving the Direct Mail industry. Chris has managed over $1B in Direct Mail investment and is leveraging his experience to bring the industry into the digital age. Chris holds a BS from Bentley University, and launched and ran a direct marketing agency for 10 years prior to founding KleerMail.


Tom Gerace

Founder & CEO, Skyword

Tom Gerace is founder and CEO of Skyword, a leading software and services company for producing quality, original content at scale. IBM, The Wall Street Journal, Iron Mountain, GMC, and Hearst Corporation are among the brands and media companies that use the Skyword Platform to create content that delivers results in search and social. Skyword is privately held and privately funded and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

Gerace also founded Be Free, a publicly traded affiliate marketing platform and services company. Be Free transformed online advertising from pay-per-view to pay-for-performance advertising. At the time of its acquisition by ValueClick, Be Free served more than 300 leading brands including barnesandnoble.com, Citibank, eBay, AOL, Lending Tree, Bertlesmann, Time Warner, IBM, Dell, and Microsoft



Sue O’Connell, Moderator
Co-publisher, Bay Windows

Sue O’Connell is the co-publisher of Bay Windows, New England’s largest newspaper serving the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and The South End News, a Boston weekly. Sue also publishes a number of digital and print magazines. She appears regularly as a contributor and guest host on WGBH Radio’s Boston Public Radio, and often appears on NECN’s “Broadside with Jim Braude”

A self-described “practical progressive” Sue is a Boston area native. She’s been described as “smart and sassy” and an “objective interviewer.” Sue O’Connell was the co-host of One In Ten , an award-winning weekly radio talk show focusing on issues relating to the gay and lesbian community, which was heard in New England on the FNX Radio Network. Boston Magazine recognized Sue O’Connell as a Gay Power Player in their 2006 Power issue.
