The senseless murder of George Floyd is one too many atrocities based on racism and bigotry. StartOut stands in solidarity with #BLM. On the first day of Pride Month, the LGBTQ+ community doesn’t forget how fiercely our Black members have fought with and for us for decades. All too familiar with injustice and discrimination, we stand for equality and opportunity because we know that everyone deserves a chance at success and recognition. Whoever you are. Whatever your background. Whatever the color of your skin. We continue to be here to support our Black entrepreneurs within the greater community, including with the Black LGBTQ+ scholarship drive we launched in February during Black history month.
We fight to give our Black LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs a seat at the table. Because when our community succeeds, so does the world as a whole. It is time to accelerate the economic empowerment of the Black LGBTQ+ community, along with both female entrepreneurs and other minorities, and affect systemic change. It will be an arduous journey, no doubt, but we simply cannot accept such blatant injustice to continue unchecked. Pride Month is a stark reminder that it is upon us to affect change, as equality for our whole diverse community is still a distant goal.
