Did you know that firing someone for being LGBTQ is still legal in 27 states (and more for being transgender)? Or that over a span of 10 years, over a million jobs created by LGBTQ entrepreneurs in areas with discriminatory environments subsequently moved to more inclusive places like some coastal cities and Chicago to be more successful? And I’m sure it isn’t surprising that when out businesspeople don’t feel welcomed as productive members of a community, they are more compelled to seek inclusive employers or start their own business.
